Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases, garden rooms can be built under permitted development. It is important to check with your local council before proceeding.Typically, the largest garden room that can be installed without planning permission is 25m².

Do I need permission from my neighbours?

If your garden room falls within permitted development guidelines, you do not need formal permission. However, it is always best to inform your neighbours out of courtesy.

Can they be built for permanent living accommodation?

We can install bathrooms and small kitchens, and even join multiple units to create full living accommodation. This may require planning permission, so we recommend confirming with your local authority.

What are the requirements for my site?

You need enough space to accommodate the unit and suitable access to your garden, even if access is through the house. Always check with your local authority regarding planning requirements.

How much space do I need?

Our garden rooms are custom built to suit your space, whether your garden is 5 metres wide or significantly larger.

Do I need to prepare my space?

Ideally, a concrete base should be installed before we begin. This reduces time on site and allows for faster completion.

If this is not possible, we can provide this service as an additional option.

Can I build on uneven ground?

We offer concrete bases, ground screws, and concrete posts. The best option depends on access and intended use.

For home gyms, we strongly recommend a concrete base to handle heavy weights safely.

How is my Luxe Pod built?

Depending on size and design, your Luxe Pod will be constructed using insulated panels or a full timber frame for bespoke builds.

Each unit is crafted by skilled tradesmen with years of experience and built to the highest quality standards.

How long do they take to build?

Most garden rooms are completed within 5 to 10 days. This may increase slightly if additional groundwork is required.

How long do garden rooms last?

Our garden rooms are designed to last decades with minimal annual maintenance. Roof coverings and cladding materials are typically estimated to last 25+ years.

What is the best material for cladding?

We offer Western Red Cedar, Siberian Larch, uPVC, and Composite options.Western Red Cedar is our most popular choice due to its natural durability and beautiful façade.

Untreated, it can last up to 60 years and will naturally weather to a silver-grey finish.

What is the best flooring to use?

We provide a range of flooring options depending on whether your Luxe Pod is multi-purpose, a gym, office, or living space.

Can I get water and electricity?

All Luxe Pods are fully wired with electricity as standard. Water can also be installed if nearby services are available.

Can I connect it to my home WiFi?

We can install CAT 6 cabling to directly connect your garden room to your home network. WiFi boosters may also work if the unit is close to the house.

Can they be soundproofed?

Additional soundproofing can be installed. Each Luxe Pod already includes 100mm earthwool insulation and insulated plasterboard for strong sound and heat insulation.

How do I heat and cool my garden room?

Large doors and windows provide natural ventilation. Smart electric heaters are included as standard and can be controlled via WiFi.

For full climate control, optional air conditioning units are available.

Do garden rooms add value?

Garden rooms increase usable living space and can add 5 to 10 percent to your property’s value, according to estate agents and lenders.

They typically cost up to one quarter of a traditional extension while delivering similar space, in a fraction of the time, with minimal disruption.

Is a garden room tax deductible as a home office?

Home office expenses can often be tax deductible. Please consult your local revenue authority for specific advice.

Can you join multiple garden rooms together?

Yes. Multiple units can be joined to create larger living spaces. You can book a showroom viewing to see our 2-bedroom Luxe Pod Living Modular Home.
